Why is Mick Jagger the fat one in the world of nesting dolls? Shouldn't Elvis be filling up the whole surface? And hey, nice misspelling there on the Chili Peppers, wait, it must be the Chili Reppers. Who painted these things? And what comes inside the Elvis doll? Cocaine, watermelon and a fried banana sandwich? I'd be disappointed with anything less.

What Travis Bickle Bought for $1.85
I can't help it. Taxi Driver is one of my favorite movies. I watch it every time it's on. Then I tell Sarah "I watched Taxi Driver again" and she shakes her head and laughs. Last time I watched it, I saw this and was amazed. Look at what a $1.85 got you back then: a box of popcorn, two clark bars, two goobers, a chuckles and an RC Cola. Nowadays you can't even get a copy of the new issue of Sadkids for less than $6 (postpaid, from me - it's the last time I will hock my zine to you - probably. I won't have to many more in a week or 2 because the first printing is selling like crazy). Buy now/cry later. Your choice.

Today Is The Day
The wait is over. The Final Countdown is over. Today is the Sadkids Number 4 zine-release party in SF. Bring your 6 bucks and come and get a copy. They are going to go fast. Maybe not as fast as as this Oldsmobile 442, but hey, at least my zine is cheaper than a marked-down $49.95 Nokia phone. My message to Nokia: You can't compete with me.

The Final Final Countdown
Tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day of the Sadkids Number 4 zine-release party in SF. No more waiting (well, a number of hours - but less than 24). I'm telling you: it's going to be fun. I hope everyone can make it. I hope that Boo, Bear, Gooch, Pasha and Romeo can come too. It wouldn't be a party without them.

The Final Countdown pt 7
There are now 2 days until the Sadkids Number 4 zine-release party in SF. I just recently heard that Hollywood Raiford's Disco closed down in Memphis after 32 years. The home of the 40-oz beer, Saturday Night Fever style dance floor, stripper poles for whoever dared to use them, incredible music and "Absolutely No Discrimination." Sure it may not have been worth going there anymore because the college kids had discovered it, but it was a Memphis institution and will be missed. I think I shot this a few years ago before the blue awning went up.

The Final Countdown pt 6
There are now 2 days until the Sadkids Number 4 zine-release party in SF. I spent most of last night printing the remainder of the zines. It was late one so I missed a post (that's why there are 2 today - lucky you!). In Memphis there are a handful of amateur sign painters (Alfred, "Brick", etc.) who paint words and signage on businesses in less affluent neighborhoods. The most common sign by far has to be the NO LOITERING sign. And even though Brick has painted it a million times, sometimes you can catch him slipping.

The Final Countdown pt 5
The countdown is still on. There are now 4 days until the Sadkids Number 4 zine-release party in SF. And again, Number 4 is full of photos taken by me in Memphis over the last 10 years. I don't know who Chef Willie Jackson is but he looks like he can cook up a mean bird. I don't remember where I shot this. I think it was on the side of a house somewhere. I don't think it's around anymore.

The Final Countdown pt 4
The countdown is still on. There are now 5 days until the Sadkids Number 4 zine-release party in SF. And again, Number 4 is full of photos taken by me in Memphis over the last 10 years. There are tons of bbq places in memphis. Cozy Corner is my favorite. The perfect order to me is a bbq cornish hen, a side of spaghetti (w/ bbq sauce of course), 2 slices of white bread and a strawberry soda.

The Final Countdown pt 3
The countdown is on. There are only 6 days until the Sadkids Number 4 zine-release party in SF. Like I said before, Number 4 is full of photos taken by me in Memphis over the last 10 years. Why go downtown Memphis to see the bridge, river view and Pyramid when you can just go south on Bellevue Blvd (a.k.a. Elvis Presley Blvd just after South Parkway) and see it painted on a wall?
