Robyn Color R.I.P. (1976-2007)

Enough with the development of San Francisco already! I swear to God there will be nothing left here but overpriced condos. All of the good stuff is going, going, gone. It makes me sick. So on October 31, (a.k.a. Halloween) my favorite color lab has closed it's doors for good. So, in celebration of the long life of Robyn Color, come see my show TOMORROW (November 1st from 5pm-8pm) at SF Camerawork where you can see the lovely color photos I had printed at Robyn. RC, you will be missed.

Hawaii 2.0

Just getting back from a killer trip to the Big Island. This time we stayed on the Kona side. I think I like the Hilo side better, but believe me, I'm not complaining. Oh yeah, my big show is on Thursday, Nov. 1.

Ernest Withers, R.I.P. (1922-2007)

Memphis photographer Ernest Withers passed away Monday. He documented the Civil Rights Movement and photographed early performances by Elvis, B.B. King, Ike and Tina, Memphis Slim, Bobby Bland and other performers who came through Memphis. Some of my favorite music related photos ever. I shot this about 8 years ago. It was one of his abandoned studios somewhere south of Stax Records. It's now occupied by a realtor or barber shop or something.

NowNow Gallery

A monthly online gallery from Australia called NowNow Gallery asked me to submit some photos. I sent them some of the pics I've been shooting inside of bars. Check it out, lots of good stuff from lots of good photographers.

GONERFEST IV / Quintron and Miss Pussycat

Quintron and Miss Pussycat closed out Gonerfest on September 29th with an incredible and raucus performance that included crowd-surfing, confetti throwing, dancing, hand clapping, stage rushing and doing the stomp. A perfect ending to a perfect weekend.

Donny Denim and the Meatballs played Gonerfest on Saturday night (or was it Sunday Morning?). Two of the guys in the band (Darin Raffaelli and Russell Quan) are from my old favorites Supercharger and The Mummies respectively. Such a great show. I can't believe I ate the whole thing!
